While a lot of people and businesses are battling through the current economic crisis, if your basic needs are sorted you are one of the lucky ones. Some kids have nothing and rely on charity to have any chance of a normal life. If you think that they are not our problem, think again. Abandoned, neglected and abused children are going to grow up and be part of everybody's future whether we like it or not. Ignoring them and their needs will only exacerbate the problem. Poverty, neglect and abuse are directly linked to criminal and anti-social behaviour as well as mental and emotional problems. Kids that are not as lucky as ours face a plethora of challenges in order to integrate and become successful members of society. Saying "ag, shame" is not enough. These kids have been betrayed by their primary care-givers and we need to raise our communities consciousness, funds and supplies to ease their suffering. Believe it or not, together we can make a difference. |
